Welcome to TCFT
International youth-led community of artists, activists and change-makers with a collective ambition to develop global youth citizenship through culture and the arts.
The first small seeds of The Complete Freedom of Truth (TCFT) began in 2008 when Opera Circus (web site when it’s launched) was invited to meet with a group of young artists in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina Inspired by their dreams we began to organise youth and school exchanges, artists workshops, skills training and courses, residencies, performances, job shadowing and much else in Bosnia, Serbia, France, Croatia, Italy, Brussels, Portugal and the UK). This has continued till 2022.
But the way we have funded this work has to change due to the destruction that is Brexit and the subsequent loss of the EU funding grants that enabled all these young people to participate for free in these powerful and life enhancing journeys in the UK and Wider Europe. There were of course many other generous funders and donors over the years, but Youth in Action, Creative Europe and Erasmus + in particular, were the core support upon which we built everything.
Research, courses, networking, relationships, artistic collaborations, new opportunities and much else will continue including exploring ideas for a home base in the EU.
We can’t list all the hundreds of people who have made all of this possible. We will just say a huge thank you to all of you, you know who you are.
The European Citizen's Prize recognises initiatives that contribute to EU cooperation and the promotion of common values.
The prize, jointly awarded by the European Parliament and the International Charlemagne Prize Foundation, is open to initiatives by young people aged 16-30 involved in projects that promote European and international understanding.

If you want to see more of what happened to TCFT during these 15 years watch these documentaries made by the film maker and writer Robert Golden in collaboration with everyone who participated. The activities and young people’s voices speak for themselves.
In August 2015 TCFT went to Srebrenica in Partnership with 12 European Organizations and a 120 People from the ages of 15 - 65, participants, artists and facilitators. The following films tells the story.
As the final residency of our current Erasmus+ project, the aim of TCFT Sarteano was to bring forward ideas of how to make our communities more creative, united and peaceful. We brought together 120+ young people, artists and facilitators from across Europe, Africa, the Middle East & Asia as part of this process.
In August 2016 over 100 young people, artists, activists and facilitators gathered at Bournemouth University for two weeks of creative collaboration, cultural exchange and discussions that matter most to young people.

This video is a fragment of a 5 day workshop led by Robert Golden in Sarajevo for the Changing the Story programme. Six young people from Bosnia & Herzegovina, England and Italy took part and are now making films which are about their concerns for the state of their countries and life in general.
Izazov! is part of international research programme Changing The Story with workshops led by photographer and filmmaker Robert Golden
Young people from across Bosnia & Herzegovina came together to take part in a series of workshops and discussions on filmmaking, activism and art led by Robert Golden. The week together in Sarajevo was the beginning of a process where participants will produce a series of documentary films tackling the issues and ideas they care about.
The workshops are part of a collaboration between Opera Circus, TCFT, Humanity in Action BiH, King’s College London and the Centre for World Cinemas & Digital Cultures for an international research programme asking how the arts, heritage, and human rights education can support youth-centred approaches to civil society building in post-conflict settings across the world.
This film is created by Robert Golden.

The Giufà Project is a collaboration between artists, young people and creative organisations across Europe to explore the theme of migration in the context of the mass movements of people taking place across the planet right now and to deliver new creative work in response. It has been born from The Complete Freedom of Truth, a youth programme created by Opera Circus which delivers cultural exchanges, residencies, skills development and leadership to a growing network of young people across Europe and has been commissioned by Glyndebourne as part of the company’s ongoing work to introduce opera to a wider audience.
